Capt/CHENG & Owner Disputes

Hello owner,

In response to a previous email:
With pleasure can I make this short, and polite only if facts don't disturb you.

Naturally for this I'll just have to skip answering your questions,
if that's the communication you prefer.

Observation: In my 14 Month on Beauport I have witnessed an incredible amount of crew turnover,
and as customary every one of them got travel reimbursements, and their final pay at the end of their stay.

Just 3 Questions to the above:

   1. Can you please explain why the mate and I are the only exception? ___________

   2. Why after 10 Month are you still blaming the reaction to the cause,
      instead of addressing the root of the problem? __________________________

   3. If there was no need for question one, then there would be no reason to mention facts and the truth,
      and as such no cause for you to label them as veiled threats? ______________________________

It certainly would have prevented the snowball avalanche effect for sure.

Nevertheless, error is human, and as embarrassing as a 10 month old oversight may be for any decent outfit,
a good character ship will absorb, while the shifting responsibility crowd only provides a deeper pit for themselves.

As in all situations, there are numerous extenuating circumstances, and points of view! ... Bottom line, are you agreeable to a compromise payment of 2/3 of the alleged total due?

If yes, I will wire transfer Specified amount dlls to you right away.

Dear owner,

I'm not surprised by your precision answers to my 3 questions, nor by the ongoing insult to my intelligence.

Unfortunately excess generally causes reaction, and produces a change in the opposite direction,
and the bottom line simply is...

...take away the cause, and the effect ceases.

This is just an interim, so you know that I have received your email, and time permitting I will give you the new scoop in detail.

After all, no problem can be solved until it is reduced to some simple form.

The changing of a vague difficulty into a specific.

When you're not preaching, you're philosophizing!

My problem is that I have a 30 KW generator that is totally useless unless I spend another 30,000 to 50,000 dlls in adding banks of deep cycle batteries!

Would you like this generator? .... I would throw it in as part of the deal if you take it out.

Send me your banking information and let's get this over with. I don't want you angry at me, after all we did have some good times, especially driving BP from La Paz to San Carlos.

Sir, your problems are much bigger than that, and the house numbers you quote, shows that your current engineering team is more clueless than you, and that is scary.

I don't care which way you splice it, the problem will remain with the lack of funding. Period! Especially since I have now realized and proven it with two other customers. This is not theory, and I can repeat this over and over again.

You're also ignoring that we had a meting before my departure when you brought on the engineering wizard with his wife, who in the end could not follow the new technology I was talking about. Your 200 hrs oil change professor.

It was determent that this generator can provide power to the engine room for lighting, or other 3 phase equipment such a water pumps etc. So it was considered an asset, and no reason to take out, and even the ex captain could understand that better than the current CHENG.

Talk about  incriminating yourself, as all your payment promises where made after that fact, which after 10 months of non payment changed to a sticky situation with the 30 KW again, and that certainly it needs to be taken out, perhaps for space or whatever other reason, just beyond the imagination of a reasonable person. Simply amazing!

Owner, I'm sorry but I just can't follow your logic. Let me mention something here.
You are asking a lot of money for the boat, and this is about the only improvement you can speak off,
and for the next owner to complete, who I'm positive would hire a qualified chief engineer to handle that for him. Or I can perhaps avail myself to furnishing that serve for the new owner.

When Wahim came to look at the boat, that's the first thing he asked if there's a way not to run the big generators continuously. This is a new technology and an already popular trend, especially for those that realize fuel is going to continue to climb.

I hope you're not mixing this up with the blown up engine from the John Deere generator, since there's never a mention about that, and the only thing that could qualify to be a waste of money.

I just hope that you never have a fire or other claim, because when it comes to pay insurance adjusters use trick questions on key personal to find a loop.

On the 28th., just 4 days ago I sent you a letter asking you where you wanted your money wired.

On the 30th., just 2 days ago, you sent me your banking information.

It's now the 3d., and I need you to tell me if you:

a) still want me to wire the xx,xxx as full payment, or
b) want to turn this over to your lawyers?

Very simple, it's either (a) or (b) ?

By the way, I have been traveling which explains the 2 day delay.
